How to be Saved

Have you heard the good news about Jesus?

Jesus was without sin.
It tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin.”
In 1 Peter 2:22 it says “He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
1 John 3:5 states “You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.”
Lastly, John 19:6 tells us that Pilate, the Roman Governor said “I find no fault in Him.”

Jesus died by crucifixion.
Matthew 27:35 records that they “crucified Him” in Jerusalem over 2,000 years ago and they literally drove large nails through His hands and feet, fastening Him to a wooden cross. This took place around 9AM and around 3PM, He died.

Jesus was buried at Sundown.
Two men, Joseph and Nicodemus took the body of Jesus and prepared it for burial and then placed it in a tomb. Pilate ordered soldiers to guard the tomb.

Jesus rose from the dead.
After three days and three nights, Jesus came back to life from the dead! An Angel rolled back the stone that blocked the entrance to reveal that Jesus is ALIVE! Luke 24:5-6 records the Angel saying “Why seek you the living among the dead? He is not here but is risen.”

Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection is for YOU.
It tells us in 1 John 2:2 “He is the propitiation (sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Why is this good news for you?

This is good news for you because it was for YOU that Jesus died on the Cross and rose from the dead. He is alive in Heaven today and will come again to receive to Himself all those who believe in Him. The sacrifice of Jesus benefits you only when you repent of your sin and believe in Him as your Lord and Savior.

So, what next?

What you just read is called the “Gospel” message of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in Romans 1:16 that this message is the “…power of God for salvation to everyone who believes”

You may be asking, “How do I become saved?”

First, you need to believe that you are a sinner in God’s eyes.

From God’s view, we are ALL sinners. Romans 3:23 states “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This means everyone sins against God.

Next, you need to believe that your sins separate you from God.

Romans 6:23 tells us that “the wages of sin is death” which is speaking of separation from God.

After you realize that you are a sinner and your sin separates you from God, you need to believe that Jesus can save you!

In the Bible in Romans 10:13, it states that “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 1 John 5:11-12 says “And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” And finally, in John 1:12, it states “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

Will you place your belief in Jesus today?

There is no church or religion that has the power to save you. Jesus, whose very name means “Savior”, is the only one who can give you eternal life. Judgement day is as certain as death itself. Repent of your sin, ask for forgiveness, and believe in Jesus today.
